Romanian handball star Cristina Neagu (32) has tested positive for covid-19, before Saturday’s Champions League meeting with the Vipers in Aquarama.
The 32-year-old confirms this on his own Instagram account.
Neagu is considered one of the world‘s best handball players, and is based in Romanian CSM Bucharest, which is scheduled to visit the Vipers in Aquarama on Saturday.
The full-back has received the award as the handball player of the year in the world four times, most recently in 2018.
Neagu is said to have tested positive for the corona test last week. The rest of the players and support staff at the club are said to have tested negative after Neagu was diagnosed with the virus.
The Bucharest team still has to test again on arrival in Norway, before the match against Vipers. When the Hungarian handball club Ferencvaros arrived in Norway to meet the Vipers in September, two players tested positive for Covid-19 on the Norwegian test.
The fight against the FTC was therefore canceled. It remains to be seen whether the match against Bucharest will be played as planned on Saturday.
