VOLLEYBALL: BERLIN DOMINATES, POTSDAM SEEKS BETTERMENT

Berlin’s volleyball scene concluded a season of contrasts, with the BR Volleys securing a German championship title while SC Potsdam faced an earlier-than-desired playoff exit. The BR Volleys, led by star player Jake Hanes, avenged thier Champions League round of 16 defeat against fellow German team SVG Lüneburg with a decisive 3-0 victory in the national championship final, claiming both the league title and the German Cup – achieving the coveted national double.

SC Potsdam’s season ended in the first round of the championship playoffs, following a semifinal loss to eventual cup winners Dresdner SC.Despite the early exit, Potsdam demonstrated competitive spirit, and the team is focused on building for future success.

Both the BR Volleys and SC Potsdam are preparing for their upcoming international seasons, with initial matches anticipated to begin around mid-November. Specific opponents and schedules are still being finalized by the German Volleyball Federation (DVV).

BR Volleys (men)

  • October 21,7:30 p.m.: Bundesliga home opener against VfB Friedrichshafen at Max-schmeling-halle, Berlin.
  • october 24, 7 p.m.: Bundesliga away game against SVG Düren at Arena kreis Düren.

SC Potsdam (women)

  • October 10, 7 p.m.: Bundesliga away game against Dresdner SC at margarethe-Aue, Dresden.
  • October 19, 4 p.m.: Bundesliga home opener against Schwarz-Gelb Erfurt at SportHalle Potsdam.
