Handball: Handball Bundesliga wants to introduce video proof and time-out buzzer

“We are preparing that we can do it,” confirmed HBL Managing Director Frank Bohmann of the dpa. The introduction can then be decided at the next HBL shareholders’ meeting, which is planned for July 7th and 8th.

Both aids are currently being at the European Championships in Hungary and Slovakia used. The video evidence can be taken by the referees, for example to decide on a red card. With the buzzer, the coaches can call a time-out directly without having to inform the judges beforehand.

“It will cost money and change the format,” said Bohmann and is also aware of changes in TV broadcasts due to the video evidence. For the 57-year-old, however, one thing is certain: “It’s not rocket science.”
