Hamburg’s top vaccinator shows the CSU in its place

The summer holidays in Hamburg will end in less than two weeks and the students will return to their classrooms. Many politicians are afraid of increasing numbers of infections. The Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has now also commented on vaccination in schools – and was promptly put in his place on Twitter by Hamburg’s top vaccinator.

“We have to decide on a common vaccination program for schoolchildren!”, The CSU tweeted the statements of Markus Söder on Friday evening. The Standing Vaccination Commission (StiKo) is skeptical, but a higher vaccination rate is needed, the post said.

Hamburg’s top vaccination doctor railed against CSU

Hamburg’s chief vaccination doctor, Dr. Dirk Heinrich did not leave this statement uncommented and countered on Twitter: “Vaccination decisions are still to be made by patient and doctor in the light of scientific evidence and not by the CSU – thank God !!!”

StiKo also believes that further waiting is necessary when it comes to the corona vaccination of children. Primarily adults should be vaccinated, said commission member Eva Hummers on Wednesday the “Mannheimer Morgen”.

Even federal education ministries Anja Karliczek (CDU) called on adults during the week to get vaccinated out of solidarity with children and adolescents. The plans of the CSU do not seem to be feasible for the time being. (alu / mp)
