Baederland Hamburg is drawing consequences from the energy crisis and the lack of staff: on Thursday the company announced changes to its swimming pool operations.
Those who want to swim outdoors even in the cold season now have a hard time in Hamburg: most of the outdoor pools all year round and the outdoor pool of the Bondenwald indoor pool will be out of service from 10 October. The three slides of Bramfeld and Billstedt will also be closed for the time being.
The water temperature is lowered
In addition, the water temperature in the pools will be reduced by one degree, Baederland announced. “These measures are exactly the right lever to make the 15 to 20 percent energy saving contribution that we are all asking for,” says Dirk Schumaier, managing director of Baederland.
Up to two days of rest per week for almost all pools
But in addition to gas, Baederland is also understaffed, and this leads to further restrictions. Most of Hamburg’s swimming pools will be closed one or two days a week in the future. “Closing days are set on days with low capacity utilization, with the exception of public holidays and weekends,” says Schumacher. The exact opening time should be from 10 October online at www.baederland.de be visible.
Continue swimming in schools and clubs
Until further notice, only Bartholomäus-Therme and Kaifu-Bad will remain open seven days a week. Morning, school and club swimming should take place unchanged in all pools. The courses offered are also not affected by the adjustments.
The saunas remain in operation
The saunas are expected to remain open in the cool season, according to Baederland, they make “an important contribution to the health of society” and, with the exception of the ovens in MidSommerland, they are not gas heated but run on green electricity.
If the crisis situation worsens in the coming weeks, Baederland promises further steps, which could therefore mainly affect the entertainment areas of the spa.
