Halsema intervenes at a demonstration on Museumplein for violating corona rules

Mayor Halsema intervened tonight in a large demonstration against the corona measures on Museumplein. The demonstration was organized by the Women for Freedom movement, but they did not adhere to the waiver rules. For that reason, the protest was cut short.

The activists stood on Museumplein because they disagree with the measures taken by the cabinet to combat the corona virus. According to the Women for Freedom movement, it is not correct that only one line should be followed by the government.

The demonstration was reported to the municipality. Conditions have been set in advance for the demonstration, including compliance with the corona measures, such as the 1.5 meter distance.

The event started around 4 pm this afternoon with a group of women playing music on drums. The demonstration was to last until 7 p.m., but due to a speech and music, there was unrest among those present, as a result of which the corona measures were not properly enforced. The demonstration was therefore stopped prematurely at 6.20 pm.

According to a spokesperson for the municipality, the group broke up after the demonstration was broken. About 1000 people attended the demonstration.
