Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Closes for 3.5 Months Starting January 26, This is the Cause

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) announced, Airports Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, will be temporarily closed on January 26, 2022.

This is a follow-up to the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport revitalization plan, the rules of which are contained in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 9 of 2002.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Transportation Adita Irawati said the revitalization of Halim Airport was carried out to improve land and air side facilities, in order to improve aspects of flight safety, security and comfort.

“With the start of revitalization, Halim Airport will be temporarily closed starting January 26, 2022. The closing time is estimated to be a maximum of 3.5 months,” he said, in a statement, Friday (21/1/2022).

Policy for prospective passengers

Regarding the closure, Adita appealed to prospective passengers who already have flight tickets to contact the airline.

He said the Ministry of Transportation had coordinated with airport operators and all airlines to handle flight cancellations, ticket refunds, flight route changes, and so on.

“We also urge people who have purchased plane tickets with departures through Halim Airport to contact the airline so that the next handling process will be carried out,” said Adita.

Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Revitalization

The revitalization at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport is carried out in the form of development on the air and land sides, which include the restoration of the runway and taxiway, increasing the parking capacity of the Naratetama and Naratama aircraft.

Then the renovation of the Naratetama and Naratama buildings, the renovation of the operating buildings, the improvement of the drainage system in the airport, and the arrangement of other facilities.

“We inform you of the temporary closure of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport early so that all relevant parties are ready to take steps to handle and impact from the closure,” said Adita.
