Since January this year, users of Microsoft’s slim Notebook Surface Laptop 3 have reported in the support forum of fine cracks in the display that occurred without any apparent reason. So far, more than 240 other users have said they have also observed this problem. A Surface Team staff member now replied and explained that the cause had been determined after closer examination: An unspecified “hard foreign body” could cause a hairline crack in the glass without there being any recognizable reason. This occurs with a “very small percentage” of the devices.

If you find such a problem with your Surface Laptop 3, you can contact Microsoft Customer Service, the manufacturer wants to repair the display free of charge (but with the restriction: “during the warranty period of the device” – “during the warranty period of the device”) . If customers have already paid money for a repair of this problem, they can also request a reimbursement from customer service.

Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop 3 last October. There are variants with a 13.5 inch and 15 inch screen. The small version contains processors from Intel, the large version from AMD.
