A hairdresser’s salon was destroyed by fire in the center of Rolde tonight. The fire was preceded by a loud bang. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire and explosion is still unclear, a spokesman for the fire service said. Several fire brigades were present to fight the fire. There were not many flames in sight, so it took the fire service some time to find out where the fire was.

“That turned out to be in the roof. To get to it, we sawed open the roof,” says the spokesperson. “The property can be considered lost.”

The fire brigade was called around 7.30 pm. A little after 21.30 the signal for fire master was given. The fire was accompanied by considerable smoke development. The adjacent buildings of a Chinese restaurant and the Coop were also damaged as a result.

A bus driver who had to maneuver past the emergency services was unable to keep the bus intact. He hit a post as he turned the corner, shattering the glass of the rear door.
