Jakarta – Chairman of the Chinese Indonesian Islamic Association H Ramdhan Effendy or better known by his name Anton Medan, passed away. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (BTP) alias Ahok also conveyed grief.
Ahok admitted that he had received news of Anton Medan’s death from his family. Anton Medan breathed his last at his residence in Pondok Rajeg, Cibinong, Bogor Regency, West Java, at 14:50 WIB.
“Hopefully his spirit will be accepted by Allah. Please share his deep sorrow,” Ahok said when contacted, Monday (15/3/2021) afternoon.
Ahok himself already knew that Anton Medan was sick. Last week Ahok even visited Anton Medan at his residence. He was there long enough.
“On the week of 7/3, he visited him at his cottage in Cibinong and was there for almost an hour,” said Ahok.
However, when asked about the meeting, and what Anton Medan was like when he was visited, Ahok subtly refused to answer. According to him, related to that, it is better for the family to provide an explanation.
Anton Medan itself is fairly close to Ahok. Anton Medan often defended when Ahok was caught in the blasphemy case when Ahok was Governor of DKI Jakarta.
