Those who hoped that with the arrival of the new year there would be the reopening of gyms, cinemas and theaters will probably be disappointed. In Dpcm of 3 December the date of January 15 as the natural expiry of the provision, which will be replaced or integrated with new provisions. Among the news, however, government sources say, a possible reopening of the activities of gyms, swimming pools, cinemas and theaters.

In these days, the government has always reiterated that any decision will be taken on the basis of the epidemiological data that will arrive after the Epiphany, that is, when it will be possible to evaluate the impact of the easing of measures in some regions since the beginning of December (for example Lombardy was the red zone until November 30, which then became orange) and above all the trend of infections during the holidays.

In fact, when it was decided to alternate partial and total lockdowns in the period between December 24th and January 6th, in the government there was no shortage of voices of those who would have wanted a national red zone for the entire period, alarmed by the possibility of infections in the family and outbreaks in meetings to celebrate. Furthermore, in recent days, many virologists have stressed that a third wave of the pandemic would have disastrous consequences even on the vaccination campaign that has just started.
Everything points therefore that even at the expiry of the Dpcm, on January 15, the measures that provide for the suspension of shows open to the public in theaters, concert halls, cinemas and other spaces, even outdoors, will be renewed, as well as the closure of gyms and swimming pools.
