Gyms and swimming pools towards confirmation of closure, the managers write to Draghi

The premier wants to be cautious, the ANIF sends him a letter: “Refreshments, reopening and sport reform, the time to save the sector is almost exhausted”

There does not seem to be any reopening in sight with the new Draghi government. The premier, numbers in hand, prefers to be prudent and tomorrow’s decree is moving towards maintaining the closure of gyms and swimming pools (in addition to the ban on moving between regions). A situation that sports workers continue to suffer from.

The letter

For this reason the Anif Eurowellness (National Association of Sport and Fitness Facilities), which since 1996 has brought together owners and managers of Italian sports and multi-sports centers and protects their interests, sent Draghi a letter to explain what the needs are after a long period. long and difficult. After having commented favorably on the speech of the premier in the Chamber on sport (“You have grasped all the important elements of this world, ranging from sports education for young people to safeguarding health for adults through physical exercise and, not lastly, to the training of the many champions of the Olympics and the World Championships “), the Anif highlighted some data.

The world of sporting practice has “1 million workers, 100 thousand sports centers, 20 million visitors” and the pandemic crisis has caused an “economic loss of 9.5 billion euros”. And again: “This economic-financial damage has condemned many sports centers to the definitive closure and the others, in order to recover, need subsidies”, underlining then “that sports centers are places of prevention and not of transmission of the virus, in how much they adopt very strict protocols to prevent contagion “.

The requests

Then some precise requests are made: “Reopen soon, receive necessary and sufficient refreshments for the recovery, complete the sport reform”. And then: “We hope that as soon as possible you, President, can indicate a contact person in the field of sport, with whom we would immediately like to be able to collaborate to complete the path we have taken so far, trying to realize the three fundamental points The times to save the sector are now almost exhausted, there are important deadlines on February 28 for which urgent action is needed in order not to risk losing most of those 100,000 centers that are the cornerstones of Italian sporting practice “.
