Chelsea Piers Connecticut announced a important expansion of its gymnastics programs on September 25, 2025, aiming too meet surging demand and elevate the facility’s competitive offerings. The move introduces new coaching staff, upgraded equipment, and expanded class schedules, positioning Chelsea Piers as a premier gymnastics destination in the Northeast.
The expansion addresses a growing need for high-quality gymnastics training in Fairfield County and beyond. Increased participation in the sport, coupled with limited regional facilities capable of supporting advanced skill development, prompted Chelsea Piers to invest in its gymnastics infrastructure. This development impacts athletes of all levels, from recreational gymnasts to competitive team members striving for collegiate scholarships and national recognition. The facility anticipates a 20% increase in program enrollment within the next year.
Chelsea Piers Connecticut initially launched its gymnastics program in 2014, quickly establishing itself as a leading provider of instruction for children ages 18 months through high school. The program currently serves over 800 gymnasts weekly, offering classes in developmental gymnastics, pre-team, competitive team (Levels 1-10), and adult gymnastics.
the expansion includes the addition of two new full-time coaches, both with extensive competitive backgrounds. Head Coach, Jacqui Chernoff, a former Division I collegiate gymnast at the University of Pennsylvania, brings over 15 years of coaching experience. Alongside her, Coach Kevin kelley, previously with the Connecticut Gymnastics Academy, will focus on advanced skill development for Level 7 and above gymnasts.
Facility upgrades encompass the installation of a new Sprung floor, enhancing athlete safety and performance, and the acquisition of state-of-the-art training equipment, including a new vault runway and upgraded uneven bars. Expanded class schedules will provide greater flexibility for families and accommodate the growing number of participants.
“We are thrilled to be able to invest in our gymnastics program and provide our athletes with the resources thay need to succeed,” stated Chelsea Piers Connecticut General Manager, Tabatha Scarpa. “This expansion demonstrates our commitment to fostering a supportive and challenging environment for gymnasts of all levels.”
Chelsea Piers connecticut’s gymnastics program is located within the 450,000 square-foot sports and entertainment complex in Stamford, Connecticut. The facility offers a wide range of athletic, recreational, and educational programs, including ice skating, rock climbing, swimming, and soccer.
