Gum Pain Won’t Heal, Beware of Signs of Diabetes – Diabetes is still a disease that is a challenge in almost all of the world. This disease often does not cause symptoms at the beginning, and is only seen when the condition is quite severe.

An earlier study published by experts at the ADA stated that people with diabetes may be at a higher risk of developing gum disease than people without diabetes.

Gum disease is a serious infection that in most cases is treatable. If left untreated it can lead to irreversible tooth loss, as it can damage the bone that supports your teeth.

Researchers say that people with severe gum disease (periodontitis) have a harder time keeping their blood sugar levels under control.

Because gum disease is an infection, it’s likely that people with diabetes will find it more difficult to treat than other people.

The ADA says: “If not properly controlled, diabetes can also slow down the wound healing process.

“This means that if you have diabetes, it may take longer for you to heal after dental treatment such as tooth extraction or other oral surgery.”

A previous ADA study found that in general, Americans with diabetes are more prone to tooth loss than those who don’t suffer from the condition.

About 28 percent of the diabetics tested in the study had lost all their teeth.
