Guitarist Mārcis Auziņš will start the season of the concert cycle ‘Liepaja Lake Music’

The opening of the season of the concert cycle “Liepaja Lake Music” will take place on July 5 at 20.00, when the guitarist, composer and arranger – Mārcis Auziņš will climb on the floating stage in Liepāja Lake this season.

According to the concert organizers from “Liepāja Music”, Mārcis Auziņš is one of the most visible and virtuoso guitarists in Latvia, who performs original compositions, jazz classics and improvises in his concert programs.

The concert will feature compositions from the musician’s first solo album “Viens”, the second album “Passion” as well as the third studio album, which will be released in the spring of 2021. Also, the concert repertoire includes recognizable world pop music melodies in the arrangements of Mārčs Auziņš from the golden repertoire of Stings, “Nirvana” and other groups and performers.

Mārcis Auziņš started his music career as a pianist in childhood, graduating from the piano department of the children’s music school. After that, he turned to playing guitar and continued his studies in the rock music class of Riga Secondary School No. 100. After that, he graduated from the Music Management Department of the Riga Dome Choir School as well as the Department of Contemporary Rhythmic Music. In 2014, he graduated from the jazz department of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar. In 2016, the guitarist released his first solo album “Viens”, which was nominated for the Latvian Music Record of the Year Award in the instrumental and inter-genre music category, and since then he has been active as a performer, as well as a music author and arranger.

The musician is one of the most sought-after pop, rock and jazz guitarists in Latvia, currently actively working in several musical projects and giving concerts with leading Latvian soloists and ensembles. Within the framework of creative projects and concert programs, he has collaborated with Raimonds Pauls, Mārtiņš Brauns, Jānis Lūsēns, Laima Vaikulis, Intars Busulis, Linda Leen, Aivars Hermans, Kaspars Zemītis, the Latvian Radio Big Band, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and others. Also in the context of pandemic and live cultural bans, the musician found opportunities and solutions to actively perform, giving his listeners and fans the opportunity to watch online performances within social accounts, as well as performing several times in car concert solo programs throughout Latvia.

According to the organizers, in July and August 2020, eight stylistically different concert programs will be offered on a floating stage in Lake Liepāja, with the participation of artists who have gained local popularity and recognition.

Visitors of the event will measure the waterway from the shore to the floating stage with one of the pre-booked water vehicles with a boarding and ticket pass at the canal berth of the hotel “Libava” (Vecā Ostmala 29) or Fishermen’s House (Vecā Ostmala 10).
