The goalkeepers stole the show in a game between Minnesota United FC and Real Salt Lake, giving absolutely nothing in a 0-0 draw Friday night in Orlando.
Each team had their chances to score, but the gatekeepers had the best. Zach MacMath was also able to count on his posts at the very end of the first half, when he was completely beaten by the strike of Robin Lod, who crashed on the upright.
The Finn from the Loons threw four shots at the MacMath cages, but only one was on target. The goalkeeper finally ended his evening with three stops, against two for his opposite Tyler Miller.
Real Salt Lake quickly found itself without one of its big names in attack. Midfielder Albert Rusnak was thrown to the ground three times after hard contact with opposing players. Freddy Juarez had no choice but to finally replace his player, visibly in pain, and to enter the fray Justin Meram, from the 34th minute.
With four points each, the two teams lead Group D ahead of Sporting Kansas City. The RSL, however, scored one more goal than Minnesota.
