The maximum group size is further limited. A maximum of 40 people are allowed to gather for outdoor activities, while a maximum of thirty is allowed indoors, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge (Public Health) announced on Monday evening during a press conference about the increasing number of positive corona tests.
A maximum of three people may be received at home, excluding children up to and including 12 years old. This also applies to receiving guests in a garden or on a balcony.
No more than four people may congregate on the street and in buildings other than your own home. This does not apply to people who belong to the same household. This also excludes children.
Since 1 July, people were allowed to receive a maximum of six people at home. Since then there has been no maximum number for outdoor meetings, as long as a distance of 1.5 meters could be kept. Inside, there was a maximum of fifty guests.
Presidents of the security regions can make exceptions. The measures will take effect on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and will be evaluated after three weeks.
Monday, 2,914 positive corona tests
Earlier today, De Jonge announced in a letter to the House of Representatives that because of the increase in the number of new infections, “additional measures are required”. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) reported 2,914 new positive corona tests on Monday. On Sunday there were 2,999. According to De Jonge, the number of daily positive tests will possibly be around 5,000 in a few weeks, because of an exponential increase.
The extra measures are necessary to prevent a new lockdown and to get the reproduction number (R) back below 1 as soon as possible. At the moment, the number that estimates how quickly the virus will spread is 1.33.
