Greysia Polii Officially Hangs Racket, Falls Up in the Final Match

Greysia Polii made up and down in the final match at the moment of hanging the racket from badminton, when the Tokyo Olympic champion was playing in an exhibition match.

As is known, Greysia Polii underwent an important moment at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Sunday (12/6/2022). Here, Greysia officially hangs up the racket.

At the event, various entertainment offerings were also held. It opened with the appearance of a well-known Indonesian singer, Raisa, who performed three songs.

The farewell ceremony was then opened with hostesses Valentino Simanjuntak and Donna Agnesia. Both of them then revealed a number of achievements for the achievements that Greysia Polii had achieved during her career in badminton.

After that, the event continued with remarks from the General Chairperson of PBSI Agung Fiman Sampurna, and Menpora Zainudin Amali. At the end of his speech, the Minister of Youth and Sports from Gorontalo gave the black jacket he was wearing to Greysia Polii as a form of respect for the athlete full of achievements.

The event then continued with listening to videos of Greysia’s struggle after 30 years of working in badminton. From the age of 5 years until finally he ended at the age of 35 years.

“It has been a long journey and it took 30 years and it cannot be separated from the support of the community, family, I am really grateful,” said Greysia.

Greysia Ups and Downs in the Final Match

Not only up and down in his career, Greysia was also forced to ups and downs in her last match in badminton.

Greysia is prepared to play an exhibition match. He was in Team A. In the first game, he played three against three. Greysia is paired with Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, and Wang Chi-Lin.

They faced Hendra Setiawan, Tai Tzu Ying, and Jonatan Christie. As a result, Team Polii won 11-8 in the first game.

Continuing to the second game, Greysia Polii who paired up with Yuta Watanabe also won the same victory. They won against Wang Yilyu/Sapphire Stock.

Even though in the middle of the match, they have to fall and get up to win point by point. But in the end, Greysia/Yuta won 11-10.

In the last game, Greysia then played again with a four-on-four format. One of them, Japanese players Misaki Matsutomo and Huang Dongping. As a result, the Greysia team won 7-5.

After the exhibition match, Secretary General of PP PBSI Muhammad Fadil Imran gave a plaque in the form of a badminton player. “Thank you for your love and sacrifice for all of us,” said Fadil Imran.
