World leaders have failed to deliver on the promises made during the Paris climate accords. That says Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg in a video she posted online. The video comes five years after the unique agreement was signed by 196 countries.

Thunberg asks her 10.5 million followers on Instagram to fight for 1.5 – referring to the ambition to limit the rise in the average global temperature to 1.5 degrees. “We are going in the wrong direction,” she says in the video. “What we promise and what we do are drifting further and further apart.” Yet 17-year-old Thunberg remains optimistic: “We, the people, are the hope.”
