Grenoble – Vincent Hognon: “My objective is to optimize the role of managers”

Arrived at Grenoble Foot 38 a few weeks ago, Vincent Hognon did not have an easy start to his term. After contracting Covid-19 and missing the first match against Auxerre (0-1), the coach saw a good part of his workforce and his staff infected in turn. The Isère club is gradually returning to normal functioning in training, after having called on a few reserve players to complete the sessions. Asked by France Bleu Isère, the technician revealed the main lines of his program to straighten out the GF38, current 17th in Ligue 2.

« It complicates but I already had an idea when I arrived. I have a pretty clear idea of the value of this workforce […] It is a team that is in doubt and we are not yet completely out of this period. I hope that the good draw obtained at Guingamp (0-0) in difficult conditions will allow it. I found these players a little marked. Personally, my objective is to optimize the role of managers because there are players who know this championship well, who have experience but who are still in their prime. I want to put them in the best conditions. »

Regarding the attack, weak point of the GF38 (17 goals scored in 21 games): ” The construction site is everywhere. If you look at the stats before I arrived, even defensively there were a lot of goals conceded. It is true that (the attack) is perhaps a priority project. We have the arrival of Axel Ngando, we have Mamad ‘Diallo at the CAN. I still had a lot of absentees. For it to go better in the head, we will have to win. And to win, you have to score goals.  »

Finally, Vincent Hognon in turn spoke about the file of a possible offensive recruit: “ We’ve been looking for a while, we have several leads. We’re looking for a player capable of doing a lot of things for cheap: scoring goals, defending, going deep, holding the ball, but it’s not easy. Everyone is looking for the same thing. »
