Green Bay Blizzard Punch Ticket to IFL Championship with Thrilling 71-64 Victory Over Quad City
GREEN BAY,WI – The Green Bay Blizzard are heading to the IFL Championship! in a back-and-forth,high-scoring affair,the Blizzard defeated the Quad City Steamwheelers 71-64 to claim the Eastern Conference Championship title.The game was a scoring frenzy from the start. Quad City struck first with a fourth-down touchdown, but Green Bay responded immediately with a touchdown drive of their own, capped off by a score from ATH TJ Davis. The first half saw both offenses consistently finding the endzone,with RB Kymani Clarke and Davis each scoring twice for the Blizzard. A last-second touchdown by Quad City kept the game tight, ending the half with Green Bay leading 37-34.The Steamwheelers came out firing in the third quarter, taking their first lead of the game at 41-37.However, the Blizzard answered right back with a rapid two-play drive culminating in a 35-yard touchdown pass to WR Andre Williams. The lead changed hands multiple times throughout the quarter, setting the stage for a dramatic fourth.
With the IFL Championship on the line, TJ Davis made a stunning catch, securing a touchdown and the lead for Green Bay at 51-50. A successful deuce (2-point conversion) extended the lead to three. Quad City quickly responded with a long touchdown pass, regaining the lead 56-53.
Kymani Clarke’s third touchdown of the game put the Blizzard back on top,and a recovered onside kick after a missed deuce attempt gave Green Bay prime field position. TJ Davis then exploded for his fourth touchdown, pushing the Blizzard ahead 69-56.The Steamwheelers refused to go quietly, scoring a quick touchdown and converting the 2-point attempt to close the gap to 69-64. A crucial safety awarded to Green Bay after a holding call in the Quad City endzone added two points. A failed onside kick attempt sealed the victory for the Blizzard as time expired, resulting in a final score of 71-64.
TJ Davis led the blizzard with four touchdowns, while Kymani Clarke contributed three. The Green Bay offense proved unstoppable, showcasing a dynamic attack that overwhelmed the Steamwheelers defense.
The Green Bay Blizzard will now travel to Tucson, Arizona, to face the Vegas Knighthawks in the IFL Championship on Saturday, August 23rd, with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 PM CST. The Blizzard are aiming to secure their first-ever IFL Championship title.
