Greece: Fisherman got dead man in the net

A Greek fisherman is accused of catching a dead man in his fishing net, then throwing him back into the sea without notifying anyone of the find.

It writes The Guardian.

The incident is said to have taken place on Sunday in Pelion, located on the east coast of Greece, five hours from Athens.

On the same day, a 74-year-old man who had been fishing with harpoon in shallow water was reported missing.

“The 74-year-old was pulled up and thrown out again while he was still in the net,” the coast guard is said to have written in a statement.

Three patrol boats were sent out in search of the dead man, who was eventually found by a diver.

According to the Coast Guard, the 52-year-old fisherman will be charged with throwing the dead man back into the sea without informing the Coast Guard about the discovery.

Pelion is a popular tourist destination in Greece, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
