Great EU farce on migrants: only 33 out of 24 thousand relocated

The Viminale graphic illustrates the situation regarding the number of illegal immigrants who have landed on the Italian coast in the last three years. The first blue column is related to 2018 and has 21,112 arrivals. The next one in a bright red color certifies the success of Matteo Salvini to the Ministry of the Interior: the number of illegal immigrants landed in our country drops to 7,722. The last, by a twist of fate, is green but not Lega Nord green. The Viminale is now managed by Luciana Lamorgese and the democrats, grillini and renziani sit in the government. Their management of migration flows is nothing short of disastrous. The third column, although it only covers until 1 October, is already beyond the one relating to 2018: almost 24 thousand. To be exact: 23.726. And of these, just 33 have been relocated.

That the relocations are a farce is now there for all to see. Yet in Brussels they continue to use words like “solidarity” and “welcome”. Even the new Pact on migration and asylum, recently presented by the president of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, wishes a “easing of migratory pressure on coastal countries” through a “obligatory solidarity between Member States”. It is to be hoped that something will change in Europe in the future, because up to now the Member States have shown themselves to be deaf to the cry of alarm raised continuously by our country. Unmasking all this selfishness was the MEP of the League, Silvia Sardone, presenting a priority question to know the exact number of immigrants relocated this year. In recent days, in fact, some newspapers had published a report from the Interior Ministry in which it was admitted that none of the migrants who landed this year in Italy had been redistributed to another country in the European Union.

In reality the figure is not exact. But not by much. “To date 335 applicants have been transferred from Italy to other Member States, including 302 from landings that took place in 2019, and 33 from landings that took place in 2020”, explained Ylva Johansson, from this year the Commissioner for Internal Affairs of the von der Leyen commission. Thirty-three, then. A humiliating figure to say the least for our country which has always been the first port of disembarkation for the vast majority of desperate people who depart from the coasts of North Africa. But not only. Because the 23,726 who arrived since the beginning of the year do not take into account “ghost landings“and the route that passes along the border of Friuli Venezia Giulia. “In this context – Sardone complains – it is absurd that there is no solidarity from other European countries, also in consideration of the coronavirus emergency”.

We can now hope that in the coming months theEuropean Union make more effort. 544 immigrants are currently waiting to be transferred from Italy. “For 433 of the aforementioned applicants, the relocation process was suspended in March 2020 due to the restrictions related to Covid-19 and was resumed in June 2020, when the restrictions were lifted”Johansson explained. “Relocations have recently been arranged for the other 111, who landed since June 2020”. It must be said that 544 out of 23,726 are not much. But they are definitely better than 33. These are frankly ridiculous numbers, which confirm the failure of the policies of the European Union and the Italian government on immigration “Sardone commented. The guilty silences of the Giallorossi add to the disasters in Brussels. All while Salvini is preparing to go to trial for trying to fight theclandestine immigration and human traffickers. “A situation of this type can no longer be tolerated”. A situation that is only likely to get worse now that Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has given the green light to smooth out the security decrees. Together with the fake reform of the Dublin Treaty, the way is preparing for yet another disaster that will make our country more and more the refugee camp of Europe.
