Grateful for my family and all the blessings

The 96th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was wonderful, full of joy, giant balloons like Snoopy dressed as an astronaut, SpongeBob, Goku, Picachú and others that took up the New York sky for 2.5 miles and almost three hours of travel.

Local authorities have predicted the presence of three million people in Central Park West or Sixth Avenue, coming from different parts of the world or the country who – for the first time – have come to New York to enjoy the open-air show.

Some have taken advantage of our cameras to share what they are thankful for.

“Giant balloons, beautiful for children, are very, very, very beautiful for the whole family,” said Andrea Torres. “For everything, first of all, for life, for being able to be here, for being able to be healthy and united and happy and for another year.”

“Mamma mia, may he rest in peace, my mother has used us to see the parade every year while she was preparing the turkey,” said Iris Omelas. “I am a doctor in Mexico, COVID, so everything we go through is very important and this year for us doctors, for us doctors, it is extremely important to give thanks.”

“My first time and I’ve lived in New York all my life and it’s my first time with my friend here yes,” said Michael Ángel González. “I am grateful for my family and all the blessings God has given me.”

Gonzalez.

As per tradition, there was no shortage of giant balloons, allegorical floats, city bands and guests from various states.

Among the 16 artists and bands that attended were Cuban singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan along with her husband, producer Emilio Estefan, her daughter Emily, her grandson Sasha and TV host Lili Estefan.

For this year, the weather was ideal for attendees and attendees, with no wind, bright sunshine and 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

The 27 giant balloons are carried by groups of about 60 people who hold the strings tightly so that none of the characters fly off.
