Grapperhaus: Also forbidden to carry fireworks in the street | NOW

Not only the lighting, but also the transport of fireworks will be prohibited next New Year. This means that people are not allowed to carry fireworks on the street, because walking is a form of transport. That said Minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice and Security) on Monday evening after the Security Council.

Anyone who carries fireworks and walks on the street can be fined 100 euros. That is the same ticket that insists on setting off fireworks around New Year’s Eve. The ban will take effect no later than December 15.

Earlier this month, the cabinet announced a temporary fireworks ban for the upcoming turn of the year. The one-time ban is intended to relieve healthcare. Small fireworks that can be sold all year round, such as stars, poppies and pulling ropes, are not covered by the temporary fireworks ban.

It is allowed to have a maximum of 25 kilograms of F2 fireworks, such as fountains and small flares, in the house. But this may not be chipped or transported.

Brabant mayors argued on Saturday for a ban on fireworks possession around the turn of the year. This would make it easier to enforce the fireworks ban. Last week, mayor Mark Slinkman of the Gelderland border municipality of Berg en Dal argued for a one-off ban on the import of fireworks from Germany.
