Just a few days after his 64th birthday, former Adidas member Frank Dassler died. Puma founder Rudolf Dassler’s grandson succumbed to a serious illness. Adidas mourns the loss of a “highly esteemed colleague”.
The grandson of Puma founder Rudolf Dassler, Frank Dassler, died. Dassler was 64 years old, confirmed the company Adidas, where Frank Dassler was Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel for many years. Until recently, Dassler worked as a lawyer in Hamburg. “We will remember Frank as a valued colleague and an outstanding person who represented and lived the values of Adidas,” said Adidas.
Frank Dassler caused a sensation when he, as the grandson of Puma founder Rudolf Dassler, switched to the sporting goods giant Adidas founded by his brother Adolf – almost a sensation within the long-opposed family branches. In a funeral announcement, both companies said goodbye to the founder’s grandson: “With exemplary commitment, a pronounced sense of responsibility, honesty and reliability, he has earned a lasting reputation inside and outside our company,” it says. The family’s bereavement report referred to a “long, serious illness” as the cause of death.
Among other things, Frank Dassler was an advocate for the sporting goods industry. After leaving Adidas in 2018, he continued to represent the company with his Hamburg law firm in industrial associations. Until recently, Dassler was President of the European Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry FESI and board member of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry WFSGI.
