For the CDU and SPD it is just barely enough in the Offenbach district assembly: 0.26 percentage points are decisive for the continued existence of the grand coalition.

Victory by a hair’s breadth: The grand coalition of CDU and SPD again has an absolute majority in Offenbach’s district assembly. The original 49 seats have now become 44. With a total of 87 MPs, that’s just enough.

Things looked different on Monday night. The trend result reported 48.61 percent for the grand coalition. After counting the cumulative and variegated votes, the CDU and SPD now have a combined 50.26 percent. Nevertheless, the SPD cannot be satisfied: 18.55 percent of all valid votes represent a historic low for the party.

The big loser in the district elections is the AfD. After being elected the third largest parliamentary group in 2016, it has now lost 7.8 percent. During the election period, some of the 13 AfD members split off and founded the Alternative List Offenbach-Land (ALO).

The Greens gained ten percent and are now the second strongest force. The pirates did not make it into the district council with 0.43 percent, but the “party” is there for the first time. ann

Although the SPD incurred heavy losses, it can continue to govern.

A “yes” was enough for the list “The Party” for a seat in the district council.
