Governor Stein Announces Boards and Commissions Appointments

Governor roy Cooper has announced several appointments to state boards and commissions.

North Carolina State Social Services Commission:

Brandon Williams of Guilford County has been appointed as a 9th Congressional District Representative.Williams is a mental health clinic psychotherapist (MHC) clinical social worker with experience in holistic intervention and improving mental health care accessibility.

North Carolina Advisory Council on Cannabis:

Dan Hirschman of Chatham County will represent the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.Hirschman is the general counsel for NCDEQ and previously served as the senior deputy attorney general for the Environmental Division at the NC Department of Justice.
Kris Gardner of Wake County has been appointed as an at-large member. Gardner is the executive director of the North Carolina Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association and has been its general counsel for over two decades. Patrick chandler Brown of Warren County has been appointed as an at-large member. Brown is a fourth-generation farmer and was recognized as NC A&T’s 2024 small Farmer of the Year. He cultivates row crops, vegetables, and industrial hemp.* Brian Harris of Catawba County has been appointed as an at-large member. Harris has served as the Chief of the Catawba Indian Nation since 2023.
