Hospitals scheduled to participate in the services of suspected cases of infection with the newly emerging virus, Corona, began preparing to receive citizens and conduct the necessary tests for them.
Yesterday, the Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, announced the inclusion of all public and central non-specialized hospitals for suspect cases, with 320 hospitals; Within the sequence of the strategy to deal with positive cases.
It was scheduled to start the work of these hospitals today, but “Masrawy” contacted a number of hospitals, some of whom were told to start work tomorrow, Friday or after tomorrow, Saturday.
A source in the Educational Hospital Authority, which is involved in providing this service with some hospitals, told Masrawy: “We were informed of the decision surprisingly hours ago, and the hospital facilities did not start until late.”
The source pointed to a state of “confusion” in implementing this decision, which was announced in haste.
Another source in one of Cairo’s hospitals indicated that the hospital where he works was informed of the necessity of providing Corona examination services only yesterday, and therefore the medical staff was not ready to deal with the suspected cases.
He added to Masrawy: “We started the preparation today, by making a special path for the suspected cases from their entry to their exit, and contacting the directorate to provide the drugs that will be given to the cases according to the therapeutic protocol, and to ensure the availability of medical supplies for hospital personnel.”
According to the new plan, public and central hospitals will receive patients, track their medical history, and examine them clinically with a blood and chest x-ray image analysis, and then the case definition is applied.
The plan indicated that patients who do not meet the definition of the case are given treatment for symptoms, and leave the hospital, and those who meet the definition of the case, will be subjected to a smear test “Corona” virus, and a preliminary evaluation of the cases will be made.
It is planned to spend a symptom treatment with minor cases while waiting at home until the result appears, and with moderate cases or higher, the patient will be hospitalized until the result appears, according to the Minister of Health.
In the case of positive results, the case is evaluated according to three levels: the first level in which the situation is simple and is isolated locally, and the second level is moderate and low and these cases are transferred to youth hostels and university cities, while the third level is “moderate high”, severe, or critical, They are transferred to isolation hospitals.
The Minister of Health stated that household isolation kits will be distributed to simple positive cases that are scheduled to be isolated, through a medical kits bag containing masks, disinfectants, and some medications.
At the same time, she added, the patient will be monitored through the electronic system to track home isolation cases.
According to the plan, hospitals and specialized institutes that provide curative services will provide general medical services, provided that the implementation of the plan will be gradual according to developments in the situation and developments in the epidemiological situation.
