Mexico City, March 21 (However) .- Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Head of Government of Mexico City, reported that the first case of coronavirus was detected via SMS, the measure implemented to avoid congestion in medical units.
The President detailed in a press conference that after this SMS detection system implemented last Tuesday, March 17, 93 thousand messages have been received; of which, 1,213 would have any symptoms and of those 213 had to be validated by means of a telephone call attended by Locatel doctors.
“Of all of them, only one has been positive,” explained Sheinbaum Pardo.

According to the Head of Government, this tool will provide service to all people in general, but especially to those who feel at risk or vulnerable, having left the country or having contact with people returning from abroad, as well as those who lived with people infected with coronavirus.
“Have you had contact with someone with coronavirus?” or “Do you have difficulty breathing?” These are some of the questions that will reach the requestor of the information.
Other questions to be answered by the person who requires assessment are: “Do you have a temperature equal to or greater than 38 degrees?” and “Have you traveled in the last 14 days to China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Singapore, Spain, France, Germany or the United States?”.
In addition to text messages, the consultation may also be made through the page covid19.cdmx.gob.mx, and by Locatel at 56 58 11 11.
On March 20, Claudia Sheinbaum urged citizens to be responsible and stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Through a video published on her Twitter account, the president reported that so far 31 positive cases of coronavirus have been detected in the entity and offered her condolences for the first confirmed death from this disease in Mexico.
He recalled that the first fatality had a history of chronic illness.
