CARINTHIA. After the 67th government meeting, Governor Peter Kaiser, Deputy Governor Gaby Schaunig and Provincial Councilor Martin Gruber reported on today’s resolutions. Among other things, Kaiser criticized the federal decree for high incidence areas. Accordingly, the measures taken, for example in the Hermagor district, should be maintained at least until the 7-day incidence is below 200 for a period of at least 10 days. For Kaiser, the decree does not correspond to any practicable or implementable regulation and is addressed with a letter to Federal Minister Rudolf Anschober. Other topics:

“Special care service allowance” decided

Due to the existing wage differences between nursing staff in the hospitals and those of the social welfare associations, a special nursing service allowance was decided after negotiations with the social partners in order to compensate for the difference between the Carinthian Community Employees Act and the salary scheme of the hospitals. In addition, this new allowance mainly affects female employees, which is the right signal in terms of the desirable and necessary reduction in income differences between the sexes, ”said District Councilor Daniel Fellner.

New orientation for local and regional development

Regional development officer Martin Gruber presented a new state funding guideline at today’s government meeting: More than one million euros are available for regional initiatives and lighthouse projects. The focus is on the revitalization of city centers and town centers, the utilization of commercial and retail space that is no longer required, measures to improve accessibility and mobility in the regions, or agricultural and tourist cooperations. The expansion of digital infrastructure and regional services in health, care and social affairs can also be promoted by the new directive. The successful small project funding in 2021 will also be continued with a budget of 200,000 euros. There will soon be another funding line for rural self-service huts.

Investments in improving the quality of life and location

In today’s government meeting, in accordance with the state budget for 2021, numerous investments were made that promote the areas of education, social affairs, care, research & development and regionality, create qualitative improvements, strengthen Carinthia as a location and, above all, further improve the quality of life for all people living in the state . “29 million euros alone flow into the educational infrastructure, which benefits the education of the state’s youth and makes the educational location more attractive,” reports Kaiser. He specifically addresses the refurbishment offensive of the vocational schools, financed with 11 million euros from the housing and settlement fund, in order to be able to offer the entire apprentice sector “the best conditions during training”. As Schaunig reports, 30 million euros from the housing and settlement fund are used on the one hand to support the Carinthian communities to implement community projects and on the other hand to convert the vocational schools. But an additional 7.32 million euros will also flow into the daily rates and basic wages in the social and care sector. More on the topic can be found here:
