Government announces new Fogape: it seeks to facilitate lines of credit and will give flexibility to payment of back taxes

A new bill focused on the tax debt relief and access to financing for small entrepreneurs the government announced today. Everything, after the Minister of Finance, Mario Marcel, and his pair of Economy, Development and Tourism, Nicolás Grau, met with various groups of MiPymes in La Moneda.

According to the authority, the initiative will enter Congress today to be discussed tomorrow in the Economy Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies, and contemplates two specific lines of support: the creation of the “Fogape Chile Supports” program, which will facilitate access for smaller companies to loans with a Fogape state guarantee; and a package of measures that will provide much more flexible conditions for the payment of back taxes.

Additionally, the project will seek forgive the penalties and interest generated by these delaysto help provide greater relief to the accumulated tax burden of entrepreneurs.

The head of Economy highlighted the work carried out in conjunction with the different MiPymes organizations, where the formation of a broader agenda is being coordinated.

“This is part of a broader agenda, which in the short term seeks to generate more favorable conditions for smaller companies. Not only alleviating these problems, such as the tax debt, the improvement of market access conditions through the indications that we are going to make to the public procurement bill; also achieving this very felt demand of smaller companies: that they really get paid in 30 days and that way they do not have liquidity problems. The work that we are doing, of co-design of public policies in different work commissions in the Ministry of Economy, is allowing us to make a more nourished agenda and that also allows us to address structural problems as relevant as digitization, access to the market and other barriers. that smaller companies tend to have”, he stated.

For his part, Mario Marcel recalled that the Chile Supports plan, launched four months ago, to support the sectors furthest behind in the process of economic recovery, continues to be a priority. “The situation has been complicated on the side of inflation, activity has been cooling down in the economy, therefore, these supports are even more necessary,” he said.

He argued that these measures are complemented by some contained in the tax reform project that is being discussed in Congress, such as the reduction of interest and facilitation of payments to smaller companies.
