Google photos Unleashes New AI Editing Tools, Search Capabilities for All Users
Holland – Google Photos is rolling out a suite of powerful, AI-driven features to all users, substantially expanding its editing and organizational capabilities. Previously limited to Pixel owners or Google One subscribers, tools like Magic Eraser and Photo Sharpening (Unblur) are now widely available, alongside entirely new functionalities powered by Google’s Gemini AI model.
The updates center around three key areas: enhanced editing, clever search, and improved institution.users can now leverage AI to remove unwanted objects or people from photos with the Magic Eraser, and rescue blurry images with the Photo Sharpening tool. Cinematic Photos allow users to transform still images into short, 3D-like videos. While most features are free, access to the most advanced tool, Magic Editor, may be limited to 10 exports per month for non-subscribers.
A new “Help me edit” feature introduces Gemini-powered editing via simple text commands. Users can now make complex adjustments using natural language, such as “Remove my dad’s sunglasses” or “Make the sky bluer.” The “Restyle with nano Banana” feature allows for dramatic stylistic transformations, enabling users to reimagine photos in styles ranging from Van Gogh paintings to Renaissance portraits.
Searching within Google Photos has also been revolutionized with the introduction of “Ask Photos.” This feature allows users to search using natural language questions, like ”show us the photos from the last time we went for a walk with Aunt Karin” or “What is the license plate number of the car I rented last year?” Gemini’s contextual understanding delivers more accurate results by linking names, locations, objects, and events.
Google Photos receives a redesigned editor and a new “create” tab, centralizing options for collages, animations, and highlight videos. The app now also supports easy album sharing via unique QR codes, ideal for events.
These updates solidify Google Photos’ position as a leading, AI-driven photo management and editing platform, offering a comprehensive suite of tools to a broad user base.
