Google Begins Trials of AI Capabilities for Generating Content in Gmail and Docs

Google is rolling out a new generative AI feature in its popular email service, Gmail, which promises to enhance users’ productivity and streamline their workflow. The company has been testing the feature, which uses artificial intelligence to automatically generate emails and documents in response to user prompts, in a closed beta program, and is now preparing to expand its availability to a wider audience. With this step, Google is hoping to cement its position as a leader in the field of AI-powered productivity tools and to make its services even more indispensable to businesses and individuals alike.

Google has started publicly testing the generative AI features announced for Workspace apps two weeks ago in Gmail and Docs. The current trusted test program is open to US consumer, enterprise and education users over 18. Interested users must sign up and opt-in to the “small group,” which they can leave at any time. The testers can use generative AI to draft everything from a birthday invitation to a job cover letter in Gmail. In Docs, AI will make the text more elaborate or rewrite it, helping users draft blog posts and song lyrics. Test participants can send feedback through Gmail and Docs. The company is expected to expand the availability of the generative AI features over time.

Innovation never seems to stop when it comes to Google, and the company is constantly pushing the boundaries of technology. With the testing of generative AI features in Gmail and Doc, we can expect even more advancements in the future. The potential of this technology is incredibly exciting, and we can’t wait to see what Google comes up with next. So, stay tuned for more updates as we continue to witness the evolution of digital communication.
