Good News, US Researchers Find Electrochemical Bandages for Chronic Wounds

“Wound infections are common and difficult to treat, therefore it is important to develop new treatment strategies, technologies and regimens that do not rely on antibiotics,” said dr. Raval quoted from the website of the American Society for Microbiology, Sunday, June 19, 2022.

These bandages are able to produce hydrogen peroxide with electrical properties and are able to speed up wound healing, because in general people are still using hydrogen peroxide solution.

In fact, the use of hydrogen peroxide solution for wound treatment is chemically unstable, it also causes wound healing to take longer.

“Specifically, we have developed and examined the antibacterial properties of a new type of bandage that continuously produces hydrogen peroxide,” dr. Raval ends.
