Good news for diabetics .. “FDA” approves UVA advanced industrial pancreas

The US Food and Drug Administration agreed “FDA” Friday on an industrial pancreas system – dependent on technology from the University of Virginia Diabetes Technology Center – that automatically monitors and regulates blood sugar levels, said Boris Kovacev, director of research: “We are excited because our decade-long research, which recently culminated in a clinical trial wide range”.

“This is a new generation system for automatic glucose control, which enables seamless integration of a continuous glucose sensor, insulin pump and a smart control algorithm,” Kovacev continued.

It tracks the artificial pancreas system, which is called Control-IQ Blood glucose levels with our continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom G6 CGM) It automatically delivers the hormone insulin as needed, and the system frees people from testing blood sugar levels several times a day by fingers, and from delivering insulin by multiple daily injections..

The US Food and Drug Administration found (FDA) The new artificial pancreas system was more effective than the treatments found in controlling blood glucose levels in people with type 1 diabetes, and the study showed that the system improved blood sugar throughout the day and at night.

During the study, 168 participants aged 14 years or older with type 1 diabetes were randomly assigned to use either an artificial pancreatic system or an insulin pump therapy that did not automatically adjust to insulin throughout the day .

The researchers found that users of the artificial pancreatic system significantly increased the amount of time with blood glucose levels in the target range, while the other group remained unchanged over the course of six months.
