Because of the bad news that usually dominates NU.nl, the good news sometimes snows. That is why we list some positive and cheerful messages on Saturday. With this week: A five-year-old boy was rescued alive two days after the earthquake in Java, the corona alarm went to its lowest possible level and Sint and Piet showed their heroic side in Almelo.
Boy (5) rescued alive from under rubble on Java
Five-year-old Azka was pulled alive from under the rubble on Thursday, more than two days after an earthquake hit the Indonesian island of Java. She largely was unharmed because it was protected from falling rocks by a mattress.
Corona alarm at lowest possible level
The corona thermometer, with which the Dutch government monitors the corona virus, has fallen to its lowest possible level. The RIVM believes this is possible, because data on contamination remains low.
Two subvariants of omikron are emerging, but they are no cause for concern. As a result, the pressure on healthcare and society remains within bounds.
The tortoise who arrived sick by post to the shelter is fine

Camilla, the wife of the British King Charles, has donated hundreds of Paddington Bear teddy bears to charity. The bears were left in British royal buildings as a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth. The hugs went to the children of vulnerable families.
