Good news! Banten Has New Toll Road, Operation Starts in August

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Part of the Serang – Panimbang section I toll road in Banten is ready to be inaugurated in August 2021. It is hoped that the new toll road sections in the Serang, Lebak and Pandeglang cities and regencies can facilitate connectivity and the economy of Banten.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of road access would accelerate the development of tourist destinations.

“Improved road access will support the economy of the people in tourist areas,” said Minister Basuki, in an official statement, Monday (12/7).

The construction of the Serang – Panimbang toll road consists of three sections, namely Section 1 of 26.5 km connecting Serang – Rangkasbitung, Section 2 of 24.17 km connecting Rangkasbitung – Cileles, and Section 3 of 33 km connecting Cileles – Panimbang. For Section 1, the construction progress has reached 97.68% and is ready to be inaugurated in August 2021.

Meanwhile, sections 2 and 3 are still in the stage of land acquisition with the progress of Section 2 reaching 75.21% and Section 3 at 64.21%. Sections 2 and 3 are targeted for completion in August 2023.

This toll road is carried out through the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (PPP) scheme with a total investment value of Rp 8.58 trillion. For Sections 1-2 the portion of the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) by PT. Wijaya Karya Serang Panimbang and Section 3 serving the government.

Basuki explained that the presence of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road is expected to support the economic development of the Central Banten and South Banten Regions with North Banten which are geographically close to DKI Jakarta.

It is claimed that this toll road will provide convenience and efficiency of travel time, such as from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung tourism object, which previously required a travel time of up to 5 hours to be around 2 – 3 hours with an average speed of 100 km/hour.
