The temporary gallery “Superladen” opens its doors for the 19th time and offers Offenbach artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in the run-up to Christmas. This year, the superstore is located as a temporary use in the former “Orsay” at Frankfurter Strasse 17. Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke opens the exhibition on Thursday, December 1st at 18:00. Interested parties are cordially invited.

“For me, the Superladen is an important instrument of cultural policy in Offenbach. With the opening of a gallery, which is temporarily located in empty buildings in the city centre, we are supporting the Offenbach art scene and at the same time revitalizing the city centre. The opening of the super store is therefore both a cultural policy and a building block of our future concept for the inner city,” emphasizes Mayor Schwenke.”

Exhibition open every day

The exhibition is open every day from 2 to 24 December from 12:00 to 19:00. 27 artists present a large selection of their works in small to medium formats. The works are available as paintings, drawings, graphics, photographs, in the form of lamps and objects at affordable prices. The offer extends over two floors in the former “Orsay” on Frankfurter Straße. The artist Anja Hantelmann is responsible for the organization again this year. The project is supported by the city directorate of the city’s economic development agency.

“The Superladen promises to be diverse again. Some pieces for one’s own collection or as a special gift, for example for Christmas, can certainly be discovered in the well-organized exhibition”, Mayor Schwenke looks ahead. He points out that 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales are passed on to the artists. “We deal with this differently than other art supermarkets and this is very important to me. That way, more money stays with the artists — and that’s what it’s all about. The superstore has also become a popular meeting place. In the midst of their works, you can chat with the artists over a cup of tea,” Mayor Schwenke concludes.

The following artists exhibit their works in the Superladen (in alphabetical order): Felizithas Arndt, Caroline Bachmann, Anna Belz, Alicja Biegaj, Christine Brunella, Petra Buschkamper, Georg Doerr, Maike Dorn, Michaela Haas, Anja Hantelmann, Katharina Hantke, Karin Herbsthofer , Timm Herok, Wolfgang Hoeher, Heide Khatschaturian, Katrin Köster, Renata Kos, Mira Laaf, Brigitte Nötzel, Gabriele Nold, Pelusa Petzel, Luis Ramirez, Ulrike Rothamel, Uta Schneider, René Spalek, Georgia Wilhelm, Alice Wallenberg.

Rethink the center

Together with the people of Offenbach and the planners from the Hamburg city planning office, the city of Offenbach set off in 2020 and developed 14 future projects to revitalize the city centre. The “Future Concept Downtown” includes ideas and offers to strengthen the heart of the city as a place for new ideas, experiences and exchange between citizens. The transformation process has begun, the first projects have already been launched, others will follow: Rethink the center
