Striking: in the gender neutral actor categories, the prize for best leading role went to a child. The young Spanish actress Sofia Otero (8) was awarded for her performance in “20,000 especies de abejas” (“20,000 species of bees”).
In the film, Otero plays a child born as a boy who struggles with his gender identity. Although she seemed very overwhelmed at first, Otero later thanked her entire family in her speech, who were in the audience moved to tears.
