GM to suspend operations in Mexico due to coronavirus

CDMX. GM from Mexico said Friday that will suspenduntil new notice“and progressively its operations manufacture in all its complexes in the country, following the guidelines of its headquarters in the North America region, to face the economic and health effects of coronavirus.

The company had reported on the eve of the suspension of work at its assembly plant in the San Luis Potosí Complex from this Friday until April 13, but now there is no stipulated date for restarting its operations there.

The rest of the nine GM plants located in the Silao, Ramos Arizpe and Toluca complexes in this state will also suspend operations on different dates and indefinitely from March 23, 26, 27 or 30, according to the statement.

“During this period, preventive maintenance will be provided to the facilities … Employees will be notified in a timely manner of the date of restarting work,” GM de México said in a statement.
