GM plans to launch a fully electric pick-up truck under the Hummer brand. The electric vehicle is said to have 1,000 hp and accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in three seconds.
Like Tesla with the Cybertruck and Ford with the F-150, General Motors (GM) is also planning to enter the promising market, particularly in the United States, with fully electric pick-up trucks. GM wants to market its e-truck under the Hummer label, which was originally buried in 2010, and the subsidiary brand GMC appears as the manufacturer. GM has now released the first teaser pictures and videos of the cybertruck challenger.

The GMC Hummer EV will be presented to the broad US public in a commercial as part of the Super Bowl on Sunday, as The Verge reports. The final presentation is therefore scheduled for May 20. However, the e-lobster will not be launched until the end of 2021 – just like the Tesla cyber truck. Rivian plans to launch its R1T pick-up truck at the end of this year. Ford should launch its F-150 late this year or early next year. More startups like Bollinger or Karma are in the starting blocks.
GM should feel pressured by the competition’s plans to offer electric pick-up trucks. According to industry observers, these vehicles are the most profitable business of the US auto giant. GM therefore achieves the most sales with pick-up trucks. Having your own truck with an electric drive is almost a must for the company. The e-lobster is to be built at the GM plant in Detroit, which the carmaker wants to make fit for the construction of electric cars for $ 2.2 billion.
