Norway is only set to cut emissions of 13 million tonnes of greenhouse gases by 2030, according to a report. The official target is a cut of 29 million tonnes.
The report, which has been prepared by Norsk Industri and DNV, is made to get the authorities to speed up the development of green power, writes Aftenposten.
According to the report, one of the reasons why it is difficult to cut is that energy consumption in Norway is already fairly clean. Therefore, the cuts must be made in sectors that are difficult to restructure and electrify, such as the oil and gas industry, heavy transport and agriculture. However, restructuring is needed in these sectors to achieve the goals, the report states.
