The program of the 19th stage of the Giro d’Italia, originally scheduled for 258 kilometers from Morbegno to Asti, has changed. The unfavorable weather (pouring rain) led to the protest of some riders (apparently, especially from Lotto Soudal, from Belgium and from Ag2r, from France) who were unwilling to compete for the entire stage. There were continuous contacts with the organization to shorten the fraction, even if not all the teams agreed with the ‘protesters’. The riders moved at a tourist pace up to the 10.7 kilometer race, then they will get on the team buses. The new start will be given on the Como lakefront around 12.30 in the traditional arrival area of Lombardy. The fraction will therefore be about 180 kilometers long.
