NEW YORK – A 16-year-old girl is in serious condition after a shooting outside a playground in a Brooklyn neighborhood on Friday afternoon.
New York City Police Department officials say the teen was shot around 3 p.m. near Wyckoff Street and Hoyt Street in the Boerum Hill section.
The shooting began shortly after three youths on Citi Bikes arrived near the playground and began shooting. The victim, police sources say, was caught in a crossfire and was hit by bullets.
Doctors took the 16-year-old to a nearby Brooklyn hospital, where she is in serious condition, according to authorities.

Brooklyn officers quickly dispersed in search of the trio when reports came in of another shooting near the Barclays Center. About five blocks away, department officials say a man who sustained a gunshot wound near Flatbush Avenue and Fifth Avenue made his way to Methodist Hospital.
