A couple of artists have set up a gigantic gorilla sculpture in New York. With the work entitled “King Nyani”, the British-Australian artist duo known as “Gillie and Marc” wants to promote the protection of the endangered species.
The sculpture, which shows a lying gorilla, immediately became a popular photo opportunity in a park in west Manhattan – children and adults mainly posed in the animal’s right hand, which it is holding in front of its body. A few years ago, the artist couple had already drawn attention to the fate of the last few specimens of the northern white rhinoceros with a rhinoceros sculpture on a New York square.
