Gigabyte releases 54-inch in the borderland between TV and screen

The size of computer screens has been increased several notches over the years and previously standard sizes around 20 inches have increasingly begun to be replaced with sizes closer to 30 inches. In addition, more and more people in sizes of 48 inches and larger, where the boundary between screen and TV is fine.

Manufacturers who are not unfamiliar with the increased sizes include Gigabyte, which has the giant screen, among other things. Gigabyte Aorus FO48U in the luggage. Now they are making a big splash again and launching the Aorus S55U, whose VA panel measures in at 54.5 inches.

In addition to size in the TV class, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a resolution of 3,840 × 2,160 pixels are promised. According to Gigabyte, a colorful image is achieved with the help of quantum dots and the screen reaches 96 percent of DCI-P3. Support for HDR 10+ and AMD Freesync is also specified. For those interested in games, they are also proud of the functions Aim Stabilizer Sync and Black Equalizer, which will give an extra sharp image through the weapon sight and better blackness in games.

Despite its gaming focus, the Aorus S55U is significantly closer to most TVs than gaming screens. This is reinforced by the fact that Gigabyte has chosen to integrate Android TV, which provides the ability to run applications and streaming services of various kinds without the need for external media players. Together with the remote control, it is in principle only the lack of TV receivers that is the decisive difference.

For picture connection, it is HDMI 2.1 and 2.0 that apply, with two ports of each type. It is supplemented with a bunch of USB ports of different variants and a 3.5 mm socket for headphones. For Android TV to work, there is a choice of network connection wirelessly or via cable. On the wireless front, it is also accompanied by Bluetooth, which version is not clear.

What price the big screen lands on remains to be seen, as Gigabyte has not yet shared either the price tag or official launch date.
