Giel: ‘Learned a lot from Special Forces, not just cigarettes’

For Giel, it is in any case his most intense experience on television so far, he writes in his message. “I am grateful to the staff for the great lessons I learned. I learned a lot from it (and not just 🚬…), including: dare to ask for help’, the radio DJ jokes with the next photo. With this, Giel refers to the moment when he lit a cigarette and the whole group was rocked by him.

He continues: “And if you’re in charge, be clear. Oh yeah, and make sure you don’t look defeated before you start.’ Giel concludes with the words that he would never have wanted to miss this adventure.

His buddies Tim Haars, Dave Roelvink and Nouschka Fontijn went through with the tough test. In the end it is Tim and Nouschka who actually manage to reach the finish line. “This week of going deep and crossing boundaries has given me insights and changed my mind about myself. This is for life!’ said Tim.

Nouschka shares the greatest lessons she has learned from the rigorous staff. ‘Thanks to staff and the lessons from their years of training in the Special Forces, we all learned a lot. My most valuable insights: never judge someone by looks or words, all that matters is the behavior you show; you can do so much more than you think, your limit is not your limit; it’s about who you are deep inside, not about what you can do.’

And Dave, who had to leave the staff after a hellish night with a hood and loud music, is proud that he lasted until the last day. ‘I also want the staff thank you for the time they took with us and showed me what’s inside me. What heroes they are and what a respect I have for what they have done in their lives.’

Participation in this program is not only tough mentally, but the candidates also have to endure a lot physically. Tim did not come out of the battle unscathed, he tells RTL Boulevard.
