Research into the impact of the corona measures on the inhabitants of the IJsselland region shows that the willingness to vaccinate has increased significantly. “In November, only 45% of the participants in the IJsselland region were willing to be vaccinated without a doubt, which is now 83%. That is very positive, because if as many people as possible get vaccinated, we will build up group immunity and the virus will not be able to spread further. That in turn provides insight into more possibilities in our society ”, says Rilana Wessel, epidemiologist GGD IJsselland.
And those possibilities, such as more freedom to go to friends and family and to be outside in the evening, are what everyone is waiting for. Wessel: “More and more residents indicate in our research that they miss seeing friends and family in real life. We are talking about 82% in February compared to 71% in November. ” Also returns 66% of feeling somewhat or very lonely. That was 60% in the previous study.
Contamination in polling station
The residents of IJsselland were also asked whether they are afraid of becoming infected in the polling station during the elections. A vast majority, 73%, are confident that there will be enough measures taken to vote safely. Wessel: “Nevertheless, 24% are concerned about the risk of infection and 46% of the participants aged 70 and older say that they will vote in an alternative way if possible; by letter or authorized representative. “
1,906 inhabitants from the IJsselland region took part in this corona study. Of these, 70% are women and 30% men. 26% are between 25 and 39 years old, 29% between 40 and 54 years and 18% are over 70 years old, 77% live with a partner and 13% alone. 33% have children up to and including 12 years old. More than half of the participants (57%) are highly educated.
