Lung infections are caused by harmful microorganisms, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, or parasites that cause damage and inflammation in the airways or lung tissue.

According to a pulmonary specialist from the Friendship Hospital, Dr. dr. Agus Dwi Susanto, SpP(K), this condition can cause oxygen disturbances to enter the blood, so that the patient experiences shortness of breath.

“Infection in the lungs causes damage to lung tissue, if extensive lung tissue damage causes disruption of oxygen entering the blood so that the patient becomes short of breath. In severe and extensive conditions it can cause respiratory failure and risk death,” he said when contacted by detik.com, Friday ( 1/7/2022).
